Clete's Auto Repair began on July 18, 1960 as a small leased two stall stop at 1727 West Highway 50, O'Fallon. After building up a loyal following of customers based on the idea of quality repair service, Clete s moved to the current location at 138 Douglas, O'Fallon in December 1963. The original structure was a simple four car shop that was increased by another four truck bays in 1972. Throughout the continuous growth of the business, along with the steady individual customers, new clients included a trash truck fleet, farm trucks, tankers and the local police departments. Clete realized that towing was a necessity to provide his customers better and faster service. A hand-built crank tow rig on a 1954 Chevy pickup was the beginning of the towing operation of the business. It has always been a family operation. Clete and Pat handled the night service until the children were old enough to share the responsibilities of dispatching and running calls. Pat continued to work in the office after the children were grown, until a time when she and Clete retired.

When Clete and Pat retired in 2001, Tom became the owner of Clete's Inc. He remains dedicated to the tradition of quality repair service and towing. What began with one 1954 Chevy hand-built crank pickup now has a fleet of three tow trucks and one flatbed truck. Clete's Inc. offers a variety of services including but not limited to 24 hour towing, general repairs, computer diagnostics, tire sales, and air conditioning service. Automotive services are available Monday thorugh Friday, 8a.m. to 5p.m.
